LOVING LIFE IN MY FOREVER HOME!

THIS IS HOW I LOOK TODAY — ALL MY HAIR HAS GROWN BACK!

Handsome Cody made quite the impression on his foster home, and he is proud to report he is a failed foster (i.e., they adopted me)!  His new Dad reports, “Cody is really a great friend, gentle, friendly and really good with our grandchildren.”  Woo Hoo!  Life couldn’t be much better.

Sweet Cody, an 11-year old neutered, 59 lb male Golden Mix (heavier now),  was in desperate need of rescue. GoldHeart has worked with the fine staff at Montgomery County (MD) Animal Services, who have been looking after Cody since late September, after a good samaritan took him in.  Sadly, this was not his first trip into the shelter, and this time his owners surrendered him.

He was in absolutely horrible condition, flea infested, hair loss, and terribly underweight.  Montgomery County staff contacted GoldHeart and since they suspected  Sacroptic Mange could be the culprit (findings ultimately were inconclusive), they kept him in isolation and followed that treatment protocol.  He did get better, but still had a long way to go.

He was cleared October 26th by the Vets and got his freedom ride into a loving Foster family on the 27th. His wonderful new foster family continuee to work with GoldHeart and their Vet to resolve his skin issues and get some weight back on him ( he was pretty much without hair from his mid-section to tail when he came in– just breaks your heart). He also has two suspected lipomas (one large, and one small, but neither seem to bother him at this time).

A GoldHeart volunteer visited him during his quarantine and enjoyed taking him on his Freedom Ride (Picture below – note he still has little to no hair on his entire back-side), and she, along with all the shelter folks just loved this guy. Yes, he may be older, a little hard of hearing, but he is still agile, rides great in cars, is good on the leash, and will offer play bows, and rub up against you to say thank you — I love you!

We Love you too Cody!
