Chuck GH-1135
RIP MR. CHUCK – GoldHeart’s Mr. February 2021
In many ways Mr. Chuck, as we called him, was a true wonder of a dog. Coming to Regina and I as a totally sightless senior we knew our daily world would change. What we never imagined, or expected was how delightful, and magical his companionship would be for us.
From his first minute arriving Chuck’s tail wagged for 5 hours until collapsing on his new bed. For the 15 months we were blessed with him, Chuck’s constant smile and easy approach captivated hundreds of friends of all ages both in person, and on social media.
Despite being eyeless, Chuck was fearless on his daily adventures limited only by his safety lead. This happy boy was a marvel at getting around strutting headlong into thickets, creeks, woods, fields, watersheds, and schoolyards, as well as owning the neighborhood sidewalks.
Mr. Chuck also presented us with a glimpse of true resiliency, determination and a love of life regardless of his handicap. He was an amazing gift of spirit combined with endless belly-rubs, and his brightness never diminished even as his age finally betrayed his body.
Regina and I are comforted with or sadness regarding his passing, as we know Chuck lived a full and complete dog life for his final chapter. Mr. Chuck will be forever in our hearts, and his ashes will remain in the home the three of us gifted each other. Chuck has definitely earned his angel wings in this life, and we are so very proud to have been accepted by him as part of his journey.
