Announcing the Heidi Kauffmann Reward Fund

Yesterday, fellow GH member Lynette Kauffmann found her 7 month old puppy Heidi shot to death not 300 yards from her home.  This is the story that was posted on wbaltv.com today.  We are setting up a reward fund (info below) to help find and punish the culprit of this outrageous crime.  Donation information is posted below.  Also, please feel free to contact any news agency or anyone else that you see fit to help us get the word out there.  Animal cruelty such as this will not be tolerated on our beloved goldens or any other animal.

MIDDLETOWN, Md. – Frederick County authorities are looking for the person who fatally shot a golden retriever puppy near Middletown.  Animal Control Director Harold Domer told The Frederick News-Post that the owners found the 7-month-old dog, named Heidi, dead on their property on Station Road on Wednesday afternoon.  Domer said three other golden retrievers were found on the property unharmed. He said the shooting occurred sometime between 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Domer said the shooter could face animal cruelty charges when caught.  Anyone with information should call Frederick County Animal Control officials at 301-600-1544.  An 11 News viewer said the owner of the puppy is a member of the GoldHeart Golden Retriever Rescue, which is setting up a fund to offer a reward to catch the culprit.

Anyone interested in donating can send a check to us at P.O. Box 522, Owings Mills, Md. 21117. Make sure Heidi is written in the subject line.
