Adoption Application Form

The adoption process for GoldHeart GRR requires you to complete this application and submit the required non-refundable $30 application processing fee donation. Goldheart volunteers first check your vet reference and will then schedule a home visit and check your personal references. A Home Visit Volunteer will contact you to set up a convenient time to come to your home, meet with you and your family, and answer any questions you may have about adopting a dog from GoldHeart.

PLEASE READ THESE NOTIFICATIONS BEFORE SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION:

(1) SERVICE AREA: GoldHeart routinely operates in parts of Maryland, south-central Pennsylvania, and Delaware. Please visit GH Service Area for a complete listing of the counties we serve. If you live outside our area, DO NOT APPLY. You may find a Golden Retriever rescue through http://www.absolutelygolden.com/rescue-clubs-by-state/. If you submit an application, and are not in an area we service, your $30 processing fee donation will not be returned.

(2) Goldheart supports the importance of altering (spay/neuter) of pets, and generally, will not adopt, foster-to-adopt, or place fosters in homes with intact dogs. If your home has an intact dog, and there is a veterinary-supported reason not to neuter/spay, please check with GoldHeart for an exception decision prior to submitting an adoption/foster-to-adopt/foster application by sending an email to adoption@goldheart.org.

If you proceed to submit an application without exception approval from GoldHeart’s Adoption Application Coordinator, your processing fee donation will not be returned.

(3) Processing Time: GoldHeart’s all-volunteer team periodically faces application backlogs, and may result in a 6-12 week processing time. We appreciate your patience and understanding, and apologize in advance, but it may be many weeks before we get to your application.

Note: Please check your Spam/Junk email folder for communications from GoldHeart if you haven’t heard from us within 6 weeks of submitting your application. We have no control over your Internet provider and how they block/filter incoming email.

Also, if you have additional information you want to provide as part of your online application, please email to adoption@goldheart.org and reference the date of your online application. 

Applicants must be at least 21 years old.
