Luke (GH-629)

August 23, 2012

Luke taught me many lessons during the two and one half years that I was privileged to foster him in my home. He demonstrated perseverance in the face of almost unimaginable challenges.

Luke was a happy, happy dog in spite of the next seizure lurking around the corner. As long as he was with his people he seemed to be able to handle whatever the fates handed him. It was heartbreaking to watch his body grow less and less able to support his amazing spirit.

And then the light seemed to leave his eyes. He looked for solitude and hardly noticed the daily activities going on around him.

Dear Luke traveled to the Rainbow Bridge today.  I believe that while he is running on strong and sound legs, without a care in the world, and free from every discomfort, he is waiting and watching for those of us who loved him.

Goldheart Golden Retrieve Rescue is an organization of dedicated volunteers. Many, many thanks for the love and support you’ve given Luke and me. There will always be a place in my heart for Luke.
