Goldie GH-1119

LOOKING FOR A FOREVER HOME

Meet Goldie! She is a super sweet golden retriever/lab puppy mix. This little lady is very high energy and needs lots of exercise.

Gender: Female

Age: 6 months

Weight: 40 lbs currently

Health: Great! She is almost up to date on vaccines and will need a booster shot for distemper in about 3 weeks. Goldie tested negative for both heartworm and Lyme diseases.

Personality: Very high energy, inquisitive and fun loving. She follows you everywhere, but she is really not a snuggle bug.

Interaction with other dogs: Goldie likes to play with the other dogs in her foster home, but she is a little too much at times. “Hey foster siblings…here I am (in your face), so play with me!” She should do fine with another equally engaging and playful dog in her forever home.

Interaction with cats: Unknown.

Interaction with children: The primary reason Goldie came to GoldHeart is she was in a home with children under age 5 and she would accidentally knock them down. She does not know her own strength. Goldie will therefore need a home without young children.

Behavior in Car: She rides great in the car and has not gotten carsick.

People Interactions – home requirements: Goldie is a puppy and will need lots of human time, training, exercise and socialization. She is crate trained and currently sleeps and eats in her crate. She is fine staying in her crate when no one is home, and only has had one accident in her crate, and it was our oversight (after she consumed too much water).

Training, Food and Treats: Goldie is a work in progress and is treat motivated (loving bites of turkey dogs as training rewards). GoldHeart has a trainer working with Goldie and he is teaching her the basic commands and trying to curb her enthusiasm for jumping on people. Goldie simply gets so excited when someone new comes to visit that she forgets her manners. Her forever home will definitely want to continue her training and socialization, both at home and in a formal setting.

Leash manners: Goldie loves going for long walks and for a young girl she actually has good leash manners.

Housetrained: She will stand at the door, but does not bark to go out, so we are teaching her how to ring the bells on the door. She has only had one accident in the house, and that was our oversight because we missed her standing at the door to go out.

Exercise Requirements: Goldie is a 5 of 5 on the energy scale (with 5 being super high energy). Goldie needs a home where she can get lots of exercise and as you can see from the pictures – she loves to swim (a future dock dog in the making?)

Fence requirements: A physically fenced yard would be amazing — this little gal has a lot of energy to burn off and can run and run!

If Goldie sounds like the puppy for you, and you are an approved GoldHeart Adopter, and feel you have a home that meets the requirements included above, please contact her foster mom at president@goldheart.org to express your interest to be considered for her forever home. Goldie is being fostered in Camp Hill PA.

Adoption fee: $600*

*Due to Goldie’s age, she will be adopted out with a GoldHeart Puppy Contract, and her forever home will need to have her spay surgery performed. Proof of spay (vet invoice/spay certificate) will be required, and upon receipt, GoldHeart will reimburse her forever home up to $100 towards the surgery cost.

If you are not yet approved by Goldheart, and are in our SERVICE AREA, please complete an adoption application at https://goldheartorg/adopting-a-golden/adoption-application/. There is a $30 non-refundable application fee that must be received before the approval process starts. The approval process can take 4- 6 weeks since we rely on an all-volunteer support network to process your application, conduct the home visit, and check references. If approved, you can then inquire about Goldie if she is still available, and you can also inquire about any other available dog that is looking for a forever home. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
