Shep (was Bunky) GH-1068

Meet Shep (previously Bunky)!

Shep is young, spunky 2-year old black coated retriever mix. He is both heart worm and Lyme disease negative and is ready for his home sweet home! He is microchipped, neutered and weighs 47 lbs with a beautiful long, black, shiny coat. He is a southern gentleman brought up from a South Carolina shelter (April 7 – he tested HW positive, was treated and is now negative). He was surrendered  by his original family when he  became too much with their special needs child and could not give the attention Shep also deserved.

Shep came with some southern manners as well, his best known are sit, paw, crate. That being said he is crate trained as well. If you take Shep near your car he will dart for the door as he absolutely enjoys car rides no matter how long or far you are driving. He will follow you around and plop right down in lay mode and watch you until you roll into the next room. But he will also go and do his own thing as well. He likes to chew, not on furniture or anything to damage but he enjoys the satisfaction of chewing something to sink his teeth into. He will lick your face and plop down looking up at you, while wagging his tail which will make your heart throb.

He will sleep at the end of your bed or on the floor next to the bed depending on his mood. He would be an excellent addition to any family that has another dog or a yard. Cats are an unknown. He loves to play fetch with his tennis balls, and will follow you around with it until you decide to play. He is an absolutely sweet boy and Can’t wait to meet his forever family.

If you are already an approved adopter and think Shep could be the boy for you, please send an email expressing your interest to secretary@goldheart.org

If you are not yet approved by Goldheart, and are in our SERVICE AREA, please complete an adoption application at https://goldheart.org/adopting-a-golden/adoption-application/. There is a $30 non-refundable application fee that must be received before the approval process starts. The approval process can take 4- 6 weeks since we rely on an all-volunteer support network to process your application, conduct the home visit, and check references. If approved, you can then inquire about Shep if still available, and you can also inquire about any other available dog that is looking for a forever home. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
