Sasha GH-1017

Check out the pictures of Sweet Sasha from her new Foster Home!

Sasha is a very gentle and easy-going 12 -year old gal. Her past foster home had dog savvy young children, several other dogs and cats in the home, and she managed just fine in this busy home. She is now in her new lower energy foster home with several other dogs and continues to do so well.

If Sasha could talk, she would tell us that she really likes the lower energy living and would be fine as an only dog or with other welcoming pets to live out her years with lots of love and hugs from her new family. Sasha is mostly reliable in the home, and is crate trained. She has been tested for several hours alone.  She typically will bark when she needs a potty break. She does not get on furniture, and loves to curl up on anything soft on the floor. She does ok in the car and on leash for short walks.

While in foster care earlier this year, Sasha had dental work included addressing a fractured tooth and getting her declining dental health back in check with a good deep cleaning. She is on a daily Dasuquin tablet/chew (runs about $28 per month) and a NSAID (Previcox 227 mg, 1/2 tablet every other day that runs about $32/month). These meds are helping Sasha’s mobility and will need to continue in her forever home under the guidance of her forever home’s vet. Sasha manages some stairs, but will do best in a home without a lot of steps. With the NSAID, Sasha will need lab work every six months. She is at a good weight that should be maintained to reduce further wear and tear on her joints and she enjoys moderate exercise that should continue to slow further progression of her arthritis. Otherwise, she is a low maintenance gal and will make a wonderful addition to some lucky home.

If you are an approved adopter and think easy to love Sasha could be the girl for you, please contact her foster home at hickmank@yahoo.com. Sasha is being fostered in LaPlata, MD.

If you are not yet approved by Goldheart, and are in our SERVICE AREA, please complete an adoption application at https://goldheart.org/adopting-a-golden/adoption-application/. There is a $30 non-refundable application fee that must be received before the approval process starts. The approval process can take several weeks since we rely on an all-volunteer support network to process your application, conduct the home visit, and check references. If approved, you can then inquire about Sasha if still available, and you can also inquire about any other available dog that is looking for a forever home. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
